Brazilian Top Team Malta

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu | Pembroke, Malta

Interested to start BJJ?

The first week is COMPLETELY FREE – no contract/commitments required.

We run classes that are small, and comfortable for all levels. If you’re interested in getting started – we do run beginner courses every few months, but you’d be more than welcome to just start joining our classes.

Our coaches, and the teammates you’ll find in the classes are more than welcoming, and will ensure we find the best way for you get to started. Any newcomers coming in can be reassured we will adapt any movements / practice to your skill / fitness / comfort levels – our priority is always safety and feeling good enjoying the martial art of jiu jitsu. In order to come, all you need is to turn up with normal sports gear.

We recommend the following checklist.

  • T-shirt (ideally a tight-fitting one to not get fingers/toes trapped, but it’s ok with whatever you’ve got)
  • Shorts
  • Bottle of water
  • Trimmed nails (to not cut your teammates)

There is nothing else required – we’ll make sure you get started in a way that’s well-adapted for you!

Simply share some information about yourself (ie. name, age, experience, etc.) and we’ll get you ready for your first session!

    Join BTT Malta!

Come and Try the best sport you have ever considered!

I have no experience, when should I come?

We do not have advanced and beginner classes separate, because that encourages growth and team spirit. You can come at any of the times above.

What do I need to bring?

Wear something comfortable and flexible, most people wear shorts and a t-shirt until they have a Gi. Also, remember to bring a drink with you as BJJ can be thirsty work!

We sell all of the equipment you’ll need so if you’re unsure about anything, contact us before you attend your first class and we can help get you ready.

    What is a Gi?

“Gi” is the name given to the traditional uniform worn in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ).

    Am I fit enough?

We hear this line a lot and the great news is BJJ will help you get fit very quickly. If you already have a basic level of fitness that’s great, but if you don’t we can help you get there. Come try BJJ in Malta!

Am I too old to learn BJJ?

Jiu Jitsu improves your balance, physical stability, your mood and helps to find a more disciplined lifestyle.

So, we believe you can start jiu jitsu at any age.

How often should I train BJJ?

If you are just looking  to get a bit fitter and more in tune with your body – 2-3 times is enough to get some great results!

If your goal is to become  a solid BJJ competitor, then 4-5 times – and even likely more to hit the elite level. It’s all about what you’re looking for from jiu jitsu.
